Monday, July 28, 2008Highway Cleanup Mission Day
The month of August brings our third commitment to the community highway cleanup. Saturday, August 30 we will again meet @ the Pioneer Plant @ 8 and 9am to clean the two mile stretch of highway. Please contact Larry if you are able to assist: 417-3111
Thursday, July 17, 2008Food Pantry Monthly Collection
The St. Joseph food pantry has been "hit" very hard recently and are in need of continued assistance. In these days in which we all feel the pinch from soaring gasoline and grocery prices, please remember those who struggle daily for food needed to live. The fourth Sunday of every month, please remember to bring non-perishable items to church with you for distribution through the St. Joseph food bank.
FRIENDSHIP TREK
This year for our second annual VBS, we were blessed with 29 of God's children. The theme was introducing Jesus as our Forever Friend. The family of Our Savior made this event possible with donations of food items for snacks, props (firewood, stones, tents), and the overwhelming out pouring of volunteers for this community mission. It was an event that the children will not soon forget and always remember that Jesus is their FOREVER FRIEND.
Friday, July 4, 2008Fall Festival Parade
Once again this year, the family of Our Savior will participate in the St. Joseph Fall Festival parade on Saturday August 9. We will need all who are willing to meet @ 2pm on North 3rd St. (by DQ) to line up in the parade processional. We are planning upon some to carry our sign and just walk along with candy for the children and will probably use Pastor and Lenell's convertible (weather permitting) if someone does not feel like the exercise. Last year you could even see Mary on her scooter. Come out and join us for the fun of a parade.
Good Samaritan Mission
On June 14, the Vision and Mission planning group held a pork chop sandwich @ the IGA to benefit the Good Samaritan Fund of St. Joseph. The community really turned out as we even created a "drive through" to expedite the service. We were able to give a check for $570 to the fund. Thanks for all who worked so hard in this mission event.
Monday, May 19, 2008Family BBQ's
Continuing the tradition, Our Savior will have family BBQ's during each of the three summer holidays. Our first was on Sunday May 25th at the home of Jim and Carol with our second at Pastor and Lenell's on Sunday July 6th. Our final BBQ will be on Sunday August 31 @ 4pm. What to bring: a friend (spouse and families too), chairs, a salad, potato dish, or a dessert and your favorite beverage. The location will be determined prior to each BBQ. We hope to see you and a friend there!
